Trump's Organization Sought to Bring In Almost 200 Workers on Visas in 2025

Donald Trump’s family business accelerated its recruitment of foreign workers on short-term work permits this period, while his government was creating barriers for other companies wanting to do the same, a report published Thursday stated.

According to information from the federal labor department, the Trump Organization sought to bring in at least nearly 200 foreign workers in the coming year for short-term roles at the US president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, golf facilities and his winery in Virginia.

The number of applications for temporary work visas for workers including servers, office assistants, housekeepers, culinary employees and agricultural laborers was the highest ever submitted by the organization, and increased from 121 in the previous term, when Trump’s first term ended.

It was also the fifth instance in 10 years that Trump had sought to hire more than 100 foreign employees for temporary positions at Mar-a-Lago, according to labor statistics.

The revelation coincides with a tightening on legal immigration by his administration that has involved the implementation of a substantial charge on H1-B visas; increased review of the actions of the 55 million people who already hold American work permits; and restrictive new rules for foreign students and journalists.

Overall, the Trump Organization sought to hire over 560 foreign laborers over the period the former president has been in the presidency, from 2017 to 2021 and during the upcoming year.

Notably, the former president was criticized by certain in the Republican party this week for remarks justifying the necessity for overseas employees when a business was unable to find people with “particular skills” to fill certain positions.

“You cannot just say a nation is coming in, going to spend $10bn to construct a facility, and going to recruit individuals off an unemployment line who haven’t worked in five years, and they’re going to start producing their missiles. It doesn’t work that effectively,” he told a host after she suggested that foreign workers lower the pay of American employees.

The administration refused a request for response, and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to an request for information.
