Approximately 55,000 homes have so far been affected by the weather, with their possessions and temporary homes damaged.

Heavy storms over the recent period have compounded the precarious situation of the many hundreds of thousands of uprooted residents in the territory, as stated by humanitarian organizations.

"Terrible" Weather Poses Serious Threats

A spokesman characterized the previous night's conditions as "terrible", with precipitation so severe that as much as 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the ground.

"These conditions was truly difficult for the people. The downpours were so powerful... And the winds were so strong," said the spokesperson.

Officials express significant anxiety that children sheltering in temporary structures in soaked garments will fall victim to hypothermia and various sicknesses.

Deaths and Widespread Damage

Health authorities have confirmed that one baby has passed away from exposure and no fewer than 11 other people have lost their lives in building collapses triggered by the storms.

Other reports indicate a greater number of casualties. Authorities stated that several residential buildings had fully given way and dozens had been partly destroyed.

  • Roughly 55,000 families affected by rains.
  • More than 40 designated shelters inundated.
  • Many people forced to relocate again.

Relief Efforts Deemed Insufficient

Organizations have escalated distribution of tents, bedding and clothing after the truce began, but they stress there is still not enough aid reaching those in need.

"We are operating tirelessly to deliver that aid and to distribute it, but the scale of the needs is so immense that we still have many thousands of people and minors who are truly suffering every night," warned one official.

Future Challenges and Ceasefire Terms

The next stage of the ceasefire encompasses arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the removal of military forces, and other terms.

Aid bodies have underscored the imperative for "expanded and ongoing humanitarian assistance to respond to pressing and future needs."

The war was initiated by an assault in October 2023. Later campaigns have led to a significant number of fatalities in the region, based on medical reports.
