A systems problem at Edinburgh's air traffic control meant all flights could arrive or depart from the facility.

Passenger services have recommenced at Edinburgh Airport following a major air traffic control outage brought the international hub to a standstill.

Every arrival and departure were suspended due to an systems problem that occurred at about 08:30.

A number of travelers reported being stuck in jets at the stand during the disruption.

Operations Restart with Continued Disruption

A statement indicated at 10:40 that flights had resumed, and expressed gratitude to passengers for their "understanding and cooperation".

However, ongoing issues are expected to affect schedules. Flights to key destinations like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, and Bristol have been axed, with numerous other services facing hold-ups.

An airport representative had earlier anticipated that 27 departures and 11 arrivals could be impacted.

"Travelers are urged to get in touch with their carrier for the latest information on their booked journeys," the statement added.

Root of the Disruption

Officials linked the operational halt to an systems failure with its control tower systems vendor.

Flyers are still being urged to check the status of their journey before traveling to the airport as residual delays are worked through.
