Nigel Farage Accuses Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues

Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike shortly after a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “harming young minds” by instructing children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, Farage outlined his perspective on British schools, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike soon after securing a victory,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.

“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They promote this negative culture.”

In response to Farage’s claims, the head of a major education union dismissed the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. Kebede noted that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.

“Farage has built his public life on dog-whistle politics and now, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their unions for a conflict,” Kebede stated.

“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would undermine state services, including education … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”

The party, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.

However, his comments indicated the party would overhaul the educational framework. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with education – truly monumental. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”

Farage expressed that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Paying tribute to a conservative activist, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to instruct people that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind rather than current practices where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”

The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

Farage has accused Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned through education, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.

Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.

Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for students.

During the American gathering, Farage also vowed to promote the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He stated such groups were “key to resistance”, noting: “I am serious. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of young people to these educational programs. I make that commitment tonight and I will follow through.”

The college, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
